I've spent nearly twenty years directing small to medium-size museums in the US. I've also been an adjunct instructor at colleges and universities in America teaching courses in history, sociology and human services. In 2005 I joined the Applied English Department faculty at Hsuiping Institute of Technology as their native speaking instructor.
I've been an avid photographer with a particular interest in documenting people, their lives and occupations. Working closely with my wife Jane Ingram Allen, I take photographs of her art works and community activities. When traveling with her to artists’ residences all over the world, I take photographs of the people and places that I observe. I was the photographer for my wife’s book, Made in Taiwan, an American Papermaking Artist’s Journey Around Taiwan, published in English and Chinese as a record of her Fulbright grant project in Taiwan. My photos have been exhibited in Taipei and Taichung and published in numerous art and education magazines.
